Application

Eligibility

In order to ensure that students have adequate access to courses, the minor solicits applications twice each year, admits approximately 15 students a semester, and caps total enrollment at approximately 100 students at a time.

The Minor in Data Science enrolls students with an interest in data science applications to the arts, humanities, and sciences, including applications that are interdisciplinary in nature. It seeks to enroll students with a variety of majors, interests, and identities.

Students who are not admitted into the minor can pursue alternative pathways to develop data science competencies. Curricular and non-curricular opportunities to learn about programming, computing, data management, statistics, and data visualization exist in many departments, in institutes (such as the Lucy Institute and the Center for Digital Scholarship), and via student activities.

Timeline

MDSC accepts applications for approximately two weeks in October and March, prior to the registration. Admission decisions are sent via email the week before registration opens each semester. Students can fill out this minor interest form to be notified when the application form is opened for future application windows.
